Two days of heavy rains forecast in the state, Jamnagar-Dwarka and Kutch still likely to receive heavy rains




  • Light to heavy rains are likely in the state from July 10 to July 13


Ahmedabad.  The state, especially Saurashtra and Kutch, has been receiving heavy to very heavy rains for the past three days.  Jamnagar, Dwarka and Porbandar districts have received heavy rains.

Even today, heavy rains have been reported in many parts of the state.  The meteorological department has forecast heavy rains in the state today and tomorrow (July 9).  Particularly in Jamnagar, Dwarka and Kutch districts of Saurashtra, heavy rains are likely.

 There will be light to heavy rains in some parts of the state from July 10

 The meteorological department said that since July 10, the state has been witnessing a gradual decline in rainfall.  The meteorological department has forecast light to heavy rains in the state from July 10 to July 13.

South Gujarat, Daman, Dadarnagar Haveli, Kutch, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Dwarka, Gir-Somnath, Diu, Anand, Kheda are likely to receive light to heavy rains in the state from July 10 to 13.  The weather is likely to be clear in North Gujarat during this time.

Due to incessant rains in most parts of the state, good water has been stored in the reservoirs since the onset of monsoon.  Various demos in North Gujarat, South Gujarat, Central Gujarat and Saurashtra have collected 80 to 100 per cent water.

So that this year there will be less water problem in most parts of the state and farmers will also get enough water for farming.  The state has a total water storage of 48 per cent.  While Saurashtra has 51 per cent water storage and South Gujarat has 49 per cent water storage.

 48.74 per cent water in the total 206 demos in the state

 There are a total of 206 dams in the state.  Most of these dams are located in Saurashtra.  There are 140 dams in Saurashtra, 20 in Kutch, 17 in Central Gujarat, 15 in North Gujarat and 13 in South Gujarat.  Out of the total 206 dams, 22 dams are flowering.  These include 19 dams in Saurashtra and 3 in Kutch.

The 206 demo has the capacity to store 25226.6mcm of water, out of which 12294.6mcm of water has been stored so far.  That is 4864 per cent water storage in 206 reservoirs.
