 3 bills related to laborers passed in Lok Sabha! Now every employee will get appointment letter- graduation and other this facility

The Lok Sabha on Tuesday approved three major bills relating to labor. The government has said that these three bills will make a big difference in the lives of workers. The bill will be passed in the Rajya Sabha today. The three bills passed in the Lok Sabha will replace the old 29 labor bill. 

The three bills include the Code on Social Security, the Industrial Relations Code and the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code. Three bills were debated in the Lok Sabha and have been passed.

What is special about the bill?

  • Each type of employee is required to issue an appointment letter. Whether the employee is on contract or not.
  • Every employee will have to be given the facility of gratuity, even the contract employee. They will not have to work in the company for 5 years to get gratuity.
  • Women will not be allowed to work night shifts (7pm to 6am). Every temporary and platform artisan such as Ola and Uber drivers will also be brought under the ambit of social security.

  • Facilities are also provided to migrant laborers. They are registered wherever they go. A re-scaling fund will be set up which will provide alternative skills training to the employees in case of retrenchment. Companies with more than 10 employees will have to provide EPAU and ESI facility for their employees.

Disputes may arise over some provisions of the bill

However, there are some provisions in the bill that could be disputed. In particular, some rules have been made regarding trade unions which may be unacceptable to trade unions.

 At the same time, it has been provided that companies with less than 300 employees do not have to seek government permission for layoffs. Earlier this limit was 100.

Thus, the government says that the bill has been prepared after talking to everyone. The Labor Commission, formed in 2002, tried to change the 4 laws enacted in the country into 4 laws. The three bills that have been passed today include 29 old labor laws.
