There is good news for the troubled youth. More than 90,000 people will get employment during the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train scheme alone. The National High Speed ​​Rail Corporation (NHSRCL), which is implementing the ambitious Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project, which was launched at a cost of over Rs 1 lakh crore, said its construction would create more than 90,000 jobs, both direct and indirect.

Need more than 51000 technicians, skilled and unskilled workers

Corporation spokesperson Sushma Gaur said in her statement that the construction work would require more than 51000 technicians and skilled and unskilled workers.

 The corporation is exploring the possibility of training such people for various related jobs. The corporation will also arrange special training for the employees of the contractors for laying the tracks.

Also more than 34000 indirect employment opportunities

He said that more than 34000 indirect employment opportunities will also come during construction, the 480 km long strip will have a total of 26 km long tunnels including 460 km long viaduct and seven km under the sea, 27 iron bridges, 12 stations and many new ancillary super structures. 

It is estimated that 75 lakh tonnes of cement and 21 lakh tonnes of steel will be used during its construction. More employment opportunities will arise in these related industries and the associated supply chain.

A spokesperson for the corporation, which came into force in 2016, said tenders for some important construction-related works would be opened in the next two months and finalized. So far 64 per cent of the total land requirement has been acquired for this project out of which 82 per cent is in Gujarat and Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and about 23 per cent in Maharashtra.

 It may be recalled that the Japanese-assisted project was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Ahmedabad in September 2017 in the presence of the then Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe.
