The Ministry of Roads, Transport and Highways has made Fasttag mandatory for all private and public vehicles - four wheelers on national highways across the country from December 1, 2019. Now the Ministry of Transport has announced a draft of the FastTag Mandatory Agreement on large vehicles sold before December 2017, which will come into effect from January 2021.

According to the new guidelines of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, it will be mandatory to install fast tags in those vehicles registered before January 1 to December 1, 2017 next year.

 Apart from this, the ministry has also proposed to make Fastatag mandatory for effective third party insurance from April 2021. In this regard, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has also issued a notification.

These benefits will be related to the toll

FASTag is an electronic toll collection system. Which is run by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), a government body of India. This is a technology running on RFID (Radio Frequency Identification). With this technology you no longer have to use cash or cards at toll booths. 

Toll tax is deducted directly from your account. And for this you don't need to park your car in a long line of toll booths. Have a sticker on your car with an RFID chip. Upon contacting the toll booth, the system is activated and the charge is paid from your digital wallet or bank account.
