Ahmedabad: Police on Sunday arrested a man from Kutch district for threatening to rape cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni's daughter on social media. The case was registered at Ratu police station in Ranchi, Jharkhand. Mahendra Singh Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings (CSK) suffered a 10-run defeat in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Wednesday after chasing a target of 168 runs. After the match, some CSK batsmen, including captain Dhoni, came under fire from fans.
Some users also made embarrassing remarks against Dhoni and his five-year-old daughter. Their wives and girlfriends are trolled on social media due to the poor performance of the players, but this is also the first time their children have been targeted when a favorite team loses. There have been some tweets and Facebook posts threatening Dhoni's five-year-old daughter. In many such posts, Dhoni's daughter has been threatened with rape.
Security has been beefed up at his Simlia and Haramu residences after former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni received threats on social media. The Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) and former cricketers have condemned the incident and demanded the arrest of the culprit. Dhoni lives with his family in Simlia and is currently playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Dubai.
