PM Modi will launch 'Swamitva Yojana' today, 1 lakh people will get this benefit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the Swamitva Yojana today. Under this scheme, about 1 lakh property owners will be able to download the card attached to their property on their mobile phone through SMS link. The scheme was announced by PM Modi during the lockdown and its first phase will also be launched today.

Called a historic initiative

Today a card attached to a record of the ownership of their property will be made physically available to landowners. The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) has described it as a historic initiative for change in rural India. Beneficiaries are from 763 villages in 6 states. These include 346 villages in Uttar Pradesh, 221 in Haryana, 100 in Maharashtra, 44 in Madhya Pradesh, 50 in Uttarakhand and 2 in Karnataka.

It will take a month

According to a public statement from the Prime Minister's Office, beneficiaries from all these states, excluding Maharashtra, will receive a physical response to their property card within a day. In Maharashtra, there is an arrangement to carry some amount for the property card. So it will take a month.

According to the PMO, this is the first time that a large-scale campaign is being launched using modern technology to benefit millions of rural property owners. The Prime Minister will also hold talks with some of the beneficiaries on the occasion.

Ownership is a scheme of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj. The Prime Minister made the announcement on April 24 on National Panchayat Day. The objective of the scheme is to provide property cards with record-related rights to homeowners in rural areas. According to the statement, the scheme will be implemented across the country in a phased manner over four years (2020-24). About 6.66 lakh villages will come under its purview.
