If you have a savings account at the post office, be prepared to make a payment to deposit and withdraw money.  Some of the new rules are going to come into effect from April 1st.

 Some new rules at the post office from 1 April


 Money laundering rules have changed


 Some new rules are to be introduced in the post office from April 1.  Customers with India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) will be charged more for depositing and withdrawing money.  Apart from this, you will now have to pay more for Aadhaar Enabled Payments System (AEPS).  But customers should be aware that they should pay more when the free transaction limit is reached.

1. Under the new rule, no charge will be levied for transacting 4 times a month in a Basic Savings Account.  Withdrawals will then be charged at the rate of 0.50 per cent or Rs 25 per transaction.


 2. If you have a savings account and a current account, you can withdraw up to Rs. 25,00 per month.  In which no charge is incurred.  Withdrawals above this will incur a charge of 0.50 per cent or a minimum of Rs 25.


 3. If the customer deposits up to Rs. 10,000 per month, no additional charge will be levied.  If they deposit more than this, they will have to pay a charge of 0.50 per cent or at least Rs 25 per deposit.


 4. If you have a non IPPB account you can do 3 free transactions.  This rule is for mini statement, cash withdrawal and cash deposit.  One charge must be paid on each transaction after the free limit is met.  After completion of the limit, a charge of Rs. 20 has to be paid on any deposit.


 5. Apart from this Rs. 5 will be charged for fund transfer.  All account holders have to have a minimum balance of Rs.500 in IPPB.  If the minimum balance is not in your account, an additional charge of Rs 100 will be levied.
