PPF, Sukanya Samrudhi will get the benefit of the discount till July 31, take advantage of the opportunity soon

Amid the Koro crisis, the government extended the deadline for Public Provident Fund (PPF) and Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana) till July 31. The time is near. The government has said that a girl who has turned 10 from March 25, 2020 to June 30, 2020 has been given till July 31 to open an account in Sukanya Samrudhi Yojana (SSY). The scheme was started so that the daughter would not be considered a burden in poor or lower middle class families. The plan is reviewed quarterly. It is currently offering an interest rate of 7.6 per cent.

Sukanya account can be opened at the post office


You can open an account of Sukanya Samrudhi Yojana at the post office. Apart from this you can also find out about this account in the bank near your home. Most of the banks have been empowered by the government to open these accounts. In this scheme, the government pays more interest as compared to other schemes, so you cannot deposit unlimited amount in it. The government has allowed a maximum deposit of Rs 1.5 lakh in the financial year. This account can be contributed up to 15 years, while its maturity period is 21 years. However, after the daughter turns 18, some money is allowed to be withdrawn from the account for higher education.

PPF, minimum amount in recurring deposit till 31st July

In the midst of the lockdown, the post department has abolished penalties for not placing the minimum amount within the stipulated period in small savings schemes, including PPF. In schemes like Public Provident Fund, Recurring Deposit, the minimum amount can be added till July 31 without penalty. Earlier this date was till June 30, which was extended to July 31.

Final opportunity to claim deduction under PPF, NPS


The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the date for investments under PPF, NPS and Sukanya Samrudhi Yojana for the financial year 2019-20 till July 31. If you haven't already, do it right away. CBDT has also extended the deadline for showing Mediclaim under 80D, Donation Investment under 80G till July 31.
