 Good news!  The government will deposit money in the accounts of 11.8 crore students, the education minister announced

Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal `Nishank` tweeted, હેઠળ Under the MDM scheme, the central government will provide financial assistance to about 118 million students through DBT.  An additional Rs 1,200 crore will be provided in the fund for this.


New Delhi: Under the Midday Meal Scheme, funds will be sent to children through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).  Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' has approved a proposal to provide meals to all eligible children in the mid-day meal scheme.


 11.8 crore students will get financial help

 Thus 11.8 crore students will get case amount through DBT.  This will give impetus to the mid day meal scheme.  This is different from the government's announcement of free foodgrains distribution to about 80 crore beneficiaries at the rate of 5 kg per person per month under the Prime Minister's Poor Welfare Food Scheme (PM-GKAY).


The education minister tweeted

 Let me tell you that this decision will help protect the nutritional status of children and help maintain their innocence during this challenging epidemic.  The Central Government will provide an additional amount of about Rs. 1200 crore to the State Governments and the Union Territory Administration for this.

This one-time special welfare measure of the Central Government will benefit about 11.8 crore children already studying in 8th standard in 11.20 lakh government and government-aided schools across the country.
